Dog Safety Products
For most dog owners, their pet’s safety is a top priority. A surprising number of dogs die each year in accidents. Injuries received from riding in the bed of a pickup truck alone take the lives of 100,000 dogs each year in the United States, according to the Humane Society. In fact, this is the top recommendation the society gives for keeping your dog safe.
The Humane Society also recommends making sure your pet stays entirely inside of a moving car. This is dangerous, for obvious reasons. But bits of debris can also get into a dog’s eyes, or lodge in his throat, blocking his windpipe.
It’s also important for pet owners to check their dog’s collars. Why, you may wonder? If you put a collar on a puppy, soon it may not be big enough. This can cause it to actually fuse with the neck, an excruciatingly painful condition. The society recommends checking for the collar for adequate space at least once a week, and you should be able to easily put your fingers between the collar and the neck.
These are the three top safety tips for dogs recommended by the Humane Society.
Being mischievous and curious, dogs can easily get injure themselves, especially when cars are involved. Becoming overheated in the warm weather is another problem, especially for certain breeds such as English Bulldogs.
There are a number of good products on the market that can help dog owners care for their pets by keeping them contained, in the yard and in the car.
Also, in the warm weather, you want to be extra careful your dog has a cool place to rest, especially if you have an elderly pet or a type of dog that needs additional support when it’s hot.
Dog Travel Car Seats
This car seat dog bed will help keep your precious fur baby safe. We all know how much most pups love to go for car rides. However, they don’t always stay in the backseat, where they belong. They love to see what’s going on, and they love to ride near their master, whom is often the driver. This presents a hazard for all involved, including the other people on the road.
At some point, dog car seats will probably become mandatory, as an untold number of accidents probably occur because of drivers distracted by a pet.
You can make the road much safer by restricting your dog’s movements in the car, while giving him a plush, comfortable seat that holds him securely in place.
The Snoozer Lookout Car Seat seen below is lined with a lambswool-like fabric, and it comes in two sizes, small and medium. This picture shows a black outside fabric, but it can also be ordered in pink, navy, gray, khaki, plaid and more.
